Inter-generational knowledge exchange

Working with elderly community members, often the keepers of knowledge, GardenAfrica is ensuring the continuation of botanical and horticultural knowledge through to the next generation, especially orphans that are now heading many households.

Rural Community Gardens foster localised economic development and are a focus for community driven exchange for the sharing of indigenous knowledge systems between generations, ensuring the continuation of vital botanical information to the next generation of carers and providers.

As an illustration as to the type of work GardenAfrica does with regards to exchanging knowledge, please see the pictorial illustration of our BBC Radio 4 appeal which was narrated by Gardener's Question Time chairman, Eric Robson.
