Charles

At 14 Charles is small for his age, the result of a lifetime of malnutrition. But in the school garden he comes alive, helping to harvest crops for lunch with his fellow students, and taking some of the green waste, like this stock melon, to a local goat herder in return for milk for his family. He now is building up his strength to set up a home garden so he can feed his HIV+ mother.
