New to GardenAfrica Charity

If you're new to GardenAfrica and visiting our site for the first time, Welcome. We thought it may be helpful to answer a few of the questions you may have, and introduce you to others who are similarly interested in what we do, and how we do it.

Thank you for visiting our website. We are pleased to welcome visitors from all backgrounds and with a range of interests. People come to the GardenAfrica website because they are interested in things which at first glance appear to be different, but which (as we keep finding in our work) spiral toward one another and are more connected than we first thought.

Things like growing vegetables, development aid, how to mulch, organic pest control, families orphaned by HIV/AIDS, medicinal herbs, climate change, the passing on of horticultural (and other) knowledge from grandmother to grandchild, vexing chickens who will not lay, the joys of an urban gardening centre on a weekend, how to coax a beloved garden through a drought and the importance of a healthy diet to school children.

Our visitors are scientists, grandparents, aid workers, gardeners with a big plot, healthcare practioners, allotment owners, school teachers, gardeners with just a window box, academics and companies with a conscience. We are also visited by private individuals with an interest in the environment, organic vegetables, teaching a child where the food on his or her plate comes from, finding practical solutions to Africa's problems and above all, in cultivating a sustainable future for all.
